A Little history
Jim Horton is the owner and founder of Reel Custom Boat Works, however; Jodi, Joslyn and Jimmy are what make it work.
Jim grew up in the central valley and has fished the San Joaquin Delta and Sacramento River for over 40 years. Jim has also spent countless hours learning and understanding the San Francisco Bay, and the Foothill and Sierra lakes. As a guide, Jim prides himself on making sure our fisheries are sustainable and that our Oceans, Bays, Lakes, Rivers and Streams are taken care of to the best of his ability.
Jim has partnered with companies from all over the country in an attempt to share with the west coast, what the east coast is using so successfully. It is Jim's goal to make sure he can offer our boaters/fisherman an opportunity to outfit their boats with the necessary equipment to make fishing in our area more productive.

One of our most requested services is the Battery compartment "Clean up", this includes routing all of those loose wires in the battery compartment through the battery switch or to a fuse/breaker panel.
Downrigger Services
As mentioned on this website, we are an authorized sales, service and warranty location for both Scotty and Cannon downriggers. We encourage our customers to bring in their downriggers and have them serviced before the season to ensure that your equipment is working the way it is supposed to. We believe that preventive maintenance is the key to prolonging the life of your equipment.

The quick mount system allows boaters to mount the "Puck and Pin" to their bow. The second piece mounts to the Fish Fighter Anchor Nest. The third piece mounts to your Minn Kota Trolling motor. You can interchange between your trolling motor and anchoring system quickly.
The trolling motor base is Pre Drilled to accept Most Minn Kota Trolling Motors, Ultera™ – Terrova ® – PowerDrive ™ – PowerDrive V2 & Power Drive Pontoon. Will also fit the MotorGuide Xi5 Trolling Motor. Allows you to mount your trolling motor inline or at an angle on the bow of your boat.

Jim Fernandes, an expert Delta fisherman and former fishing guide, has been fishing the San Joaquin Delta and Sacramento River for over 50 years. Jim also has an intimate knowledge of our local sierra lakes to include Lake Camanche, Lake Amador, Hogan Lake, Caples and Silver Lakes and Lake Pardee.
Jim has spent countless hours perfecting a wooden bomber style lure that striped bass can not resist. These lures are custom spun on a lathe, then tuned to ensure you are getting a quality product that is sure to help you catch more and bigger fish.
Jim uses the best of wood (Alaskan Yellow Cedar) , paints (epoxy), tapes, hooks (Gamakatsu Red 2x Strong Size 1 Treble Hooks) and lure accessories to make sure each lure that leaves his shop is ready to entice any fish. Each lure takes approximately 1 hour to turn, sand, drill and prep for paint. Painting consists of (2) epoxy coats, each of which takes approximately 24 hours to set up. It takes on average of about three to four days from start to finish to turn a lure out. No one lure is exactly alike, but all will catch fish!

Use these lures tied directly to braided line (no swivel). They work great in both salt & fresh water. They have caught tuna (larger version heavier components), Stripers, Small & Large Mouth Bass and Large Brown Trout. These lures are glide bait lures that work best on the surface. These wooden lures are hand turned on a lathe using Alaskan Cedar. The lures are forward weighted, painted and Finished with a clear pearl coat, and two coats of hardened clear epoxy. Each lure is unique and no two lures will ever be the same. They are outfitted with 50lb Trilene Big Game Monofilament and Owner 3/0 or 4/0 wide gap hooks. These lures are designed for striped bass and largemouth bass and have proven themselves worthy of being casted over kelp beds in salt water.
These lures when pulled at the recommended speed (2.5-3.0 mph) at the recommended distance behind the boat (85-110') wioll work about 3-7' beneath the surface.
